Give station names in alphabetical order

I thank the railway authorities for giving the telephone numbers of various railway stations in the railway timetable book. But, it is time consuming to find station names and numbers, as the names are not arranged in alphabetical order. If the names of the stations are arranged in an order, it will be easier for people to find the required number from the long list of stations. This system is being followed by the authorities of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited while preparing telephone directories for several years. I request the railway authorities to arrange the names of stations in alphabetical order in the timetable book.

Unauthorised colleges

In the wake of the recent railing collapse in Narayana Junior College building in Hyderabad that claimed the life of a student, the issue of revamping the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has come to fore again. In the unfortunate incident, over 30 students sustained injuries and it has come to light that the BIE is unaware of the existence of the college. In this context, I sincerely appeal to the State Government to take necessary steps to prepare the list of unauthorised junior colleges and immediately order for their closure. Restrictions should be imposed on the collection of fee from students by the corporate colleges and only limited number of colleges should be allotted to each institution.

Revise pay-scales

Extra departmental employees of the postal department, who are performing duties in rural areas, deserve a better deal. It is important that the Pay Commission’s recommendations be released and implemented for the benefit of the extra departmental employees. As a result of the recommendations of the pay commission, employees of all Central Government departments, except the extra departmental staff of the postal department, are getting revised pay scales and enjoying other benefits. The Government is requested to revise the pay scales of the extra departmental staff and implement facilities like pension, reimbursement of medical bills and maternity leave facility for women employees.

No vigil on corporate schools

It is sad to note that 12-year-old P. Mahesh was charred to death in his class room at a private school in Nizamabad district. In fact, such incidents have become frequent in many of the corporate schools in the recent times. As there is no vigil by the authorities concerned, many schools are making the lives of their students miserable. The managements of a few schools are focusing only on obtaining top ranks and in this process they are putting lot of stress on students. The Ministry of Education should give necessary instructions to the officials concerned to keep a close watch on the functioning of corporate schools.
