UPA failed to tackle terrorism, he says

Manmohan “devalued” the office of Prime Minister: Advani

Every decision is taken at 10 Janpath, alleges BJP leader

Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani on Sunday accused Manmohan Singh of “devaluing” the office of the Prime Minister and described him as the “weakest and most unsuccessful” Prime Minister of the country.

Addressing a party rally here, Mr. Advani alleged that Dr. Singh was not only weak and failed on all fronts, but also devalued the Prime Minister’s office and every decision was taken at 10 Janpath.

“I have seen 14 Prime Ministers since the first parliamentary elections and I am sorry to say that Manmohan Singh is the weakest and most unsuccessful among them,” Mr. Advani said.

Inflation

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha alleged that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government had failed to tackle the twin problems of terrorism and inflation.

He alleged that the Congress, which came to power criticising the “India Shining” campaign of the National Democratic Alliance, betrayed the “aam aadmi.”

The common people were now at their wits’ end following the failure of the government in checking the soaring prices of essential commodities. Farmers continued to commit suicide, he alleged.

Mr. Advani said that if the NDA was voted back to power, it would create a separate department for religious pilgrimage. Flaying those calling the BJP communal, Mr. Advani said real secularism was all about respecting each other’s faith.
