Escapes from police custody
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A 29-year-old convict escaped from police custody on Saturday while he was being taken to be produced in a case pending before the 10th Fast Track Session Court at Cauvery Bhavan here. According to M.C. Vishwanathaiah, Chief Superintendent of Bangalore Central Prison, two City Armed Reserve (CAR) police constables were escorting convict Shashi Shetty.
The CAR constables removed Shetty’s handcuffs to facilitate his entry to a lift. Shetty allegedly pushed the constables into the lift and escaped.
Shetty is a native of Bangalore and he is accused in several cases of theft. He has been convicted in two cases, Mr. Vishwanathaiah said.
