Sharana Samskriti Utsava from Thursday

Chitradurga: Sharana Samskriti Utsava, a 10-day cultural and spiritual event, will begin here on October 2, according to a press release issued by Shivamurthy Murughaswamy of Murugharajendra Math.

The event will be held at the Old Middle School grounds. A huge pandal has been erected. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Gulihatti Shekhar will inaugurate the State-level Jamura Cup Day and Night Kabaddi Championship on October 2.

The math will confer Basavashri Award on the former Indian Police Service officer Kiran Bedi on October 3. She has been chosen for the award in recognition of her exemplary contribution for the welfare of society. Several Ministers are expected to be present at the function.

The math has arranged inter-caste mass marriage on the night of October 3. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate a farmers’ convention on October 6.

Several lecture sessions, seminars and symposiums on various topics will be held.
