RICH HAUL: The fake currency notes seized at Perinthalmanna on Sunday. PERINTHALMANNA: The police snapped the key link of a fake currency racket when they nabbed a man hailing from Nagercoil and seized counterfeit currency notes to the tune of Rs. 56,000 and printing equipment from a lodging here on Sunday. Kamala Prasad, who originally belonged to Pathanamthitta, was arrested from a hotel on a tip-off by a police team led by Circle Inspector Abdul Khader. The police were tracking Prasad for several days. He reportedly arrived here a few days ago with a bulk order to print counterfeit notes for Rs.5 crore. The police recovered 18 fake notes of Rs.1,000 denomination, 58 notes of Rs.500 denomination, and 95 notes of Rs.100 denomination from Prasad. A computer and a few CDs were also seized. Police sources said Prasad had supplied fake currency notes to many people in Malappuram.
