Plot to kill Tanveer unearthed

BANGALORE: The Ramamurthy Nagar police on Sunday arrested a man and unearthed, what they say, is a conspiracy to kill Tanveer Ahmed, who has criminal antecedents.
The arrested man was identified as Sugendra alias Sugi, a resident of Nehrupuram in the city, who is wanted in several cases relating to murder, attempt to murder and kidnap. The police recovered a pistol and six rounds of live ammunition from Sugi, against whom rowdy-sheets were opened in Bharathi Nagar and Frazer Town police stations.
The police said Sugi is a close friend of Jabbar, who was allegedly killed by Tanveer’s associates. He had planned a revenge killing, the police said. “He had obtained the 9 mm pistol and the live bullets from Brigade Azam, an ammunition supplier to the city’s underworld,” said an officer.
Raids
The staff of the Excise Enforcement and Lottery Prohibition Wing of the State police seized illicit liquor worth Rs. 84,900 in raids at Gadag, Kodagu and Bangalore districts on Friday and Saturday.
The raid on Saturday took place at Tataguppe Village of Kanakapura taluk of Talaghattapura Police State limits of Bangalore district and 1,600 litres of “ID Wash” were destroyed and eight drums of illicit liquor worth Rs. 25,000 were seized.
As many as six accused persons are absconding, according to the police.
