VIJAYAWADA: Top seed M. A. Hakeem of Hyderabad won the South Zone invitational carrom championship defeating J.N. Syam Sundar of Karnataka 25-19, 25-4 in the final at C.R. Club at Chilakaluripet on Sunday. Earlier, M.A. Hakeem and J. N. Syam Sundar defeated K. Srinivas and L. Surya Prakash respectively to sail into the final. The results: Men’s singles (final): M.A. Hakeem (Hyd) bt J.N. Syam Sundar (Kar) 25-19, 25-4; (semifinals): J.N. Syma Sundar (Kar) bt L. Surya Prakash (Hyd) 25-10, 25-23; M.A. Hakeem (Hyd) bt K. Srinivas (Hyd) 25-12, 25-23. Ricky sparklesRicky’s 69 helped North Zone score 217 in 88 overs against South Zone in the ACA under-14 inter-zonal tournament at Anantapur on Sunday.
