Bid to help realtors, says Chennithala

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala on Monday alleged that the CPI(M) leadership was pushing for Special Economic Zones in the State to help the real estate lobby. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Chennithala maintained that the United Democratic Front and the Congress favoured the establishment of SEZs, but the only opposition was to the government and CPI (M)- driven LDF attempts to cater to vested interests. The Congress was of the opinion that there was no need for a State legislation on SEZs as the Central enactment had sufficient safeguards.
