Health and Family Welfare officials in ACB net

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday registered cases of disproportionate assets against Pothula Ramachandra Reddy, section officer, and K. Appa Rao, deputy director/liaison officer, Health and Family Welfare department, after unearthing their assets worth Rs.1.8 crore and Rs.96 lakh respectively.

A press release issued by ACB later said the assets were found after officials conducted simultaneous searches at their offices and residences. The searches were continuing. Some more details of the bank balances were awaited. Both the officers are being arrested. They would be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad.

The ACB officials searched Reddy’s office in the Secretariat and residence at Boudhanagar, Warasiguda, and Kadapa, which resulted in unearthing of assets worth Rs.1.8 crore. The market value of his immovable assets was more than Rs.5 crore.

The assets included three houses at Warasiguda, one house at Uppal, ten plots in Uppal, Medchal and Hyderabad and three open plots in Palampally, Kadapa district. He was found in possession of Rs.1 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs.3 lakh, three lorries valued at over Rs.32 lakh, a car, a motorcycle, besides costly household articles and bank balances.

The ACB officials’ search of Appa Rao’s residences at Shobha Pavani Apartments, Vidyanagar, yielded assets including five houses at Visakhapatnam and seven house plots.
