dated September 30, 1958: Desire to be a farmer

An 80-year-old English woman, Miss C.F. Pole, who has lived in Tasmania for the past 25 years, passed through Singapore on September 27 on her way to India to lead the life of a farmer. She is on her way to a farm in Coimbatore bought for her by friends in Madras. Her 71-year-old sister, Caroline is already there. Ceylon-born Miss Pole said that she had chosen India for her new life as farmer because she thought the people there were helpful.
