Mamata to meet Sonia

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will be meeting Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance, in New Delhi on Tuesday and seek “immediate Central intervention” for the implementation of the agreement between her associates and the State government pertaining to the Singur issue. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi on September 7.

“We will submit all papers related to the agreement to Ms. Gandhi,” she told journalists here on Monday.

Ms. Banerjee also plans to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil at a later date, after Dr. Singh returns to the country.
