Free medical camps conclude

Tirupur: A series of eight free medical camps organised by the Corporation administration over 20 months under Varumun Kappom Thittam concluded this week.
Official sources said that a total of 10,260 persons were screened for various diseases. “The entire data collected through the camps will be computerised and used for planning purposes,” sources added.
In the last camp held at Jaiva Bhai Corporation Girls HSS here on Friday, doctors examined 1,615 persons . Minor ailments were attended to.
The City Health Officer, K.R. Jawaharlal, explained to the visitors how mosquitoes spread diseases like malaria and chikungunya, and the measures that needed to be taken by the public to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.
