Resident doctors an anxious lot
Staff Reporter
Over notification of pay panel recommendations
NEW DELHI: Senior and junior resident doctors working in various Delhi Government hospitals are an anxious lot these days claiming that the Central Government has not issued a notification announcing the revised pay scales for them in accordance with the 6th Pay Commission.
Representatives from the group also met Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri on Monday seeking his intervention in the matter. Maulana Azad Medical College Resident Doctors’ Association and Associated Hospitals vice-president Akhil Kumar said: “We met Dr. Shastri and got a good response. He told us that the Government had no problem in bringing in the revised pay scales but we have to wait for a notification from the Central Government.”
The non-revision of salaries of the resident doctors in accordance with the Pay Commission recommendations is an issue that affects several hundred junior and senior residents in various Delhi Government hospitals and needs to be looked into urgently, said a senior resident at MAMC.
