NEW DELHI: Sachin Ratti and Arup Baidya won the decisive doubles as Railways defeated Air India 3-2 in the men’s final of the Central Zone badminton championship at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Tuesday. Arup Baidya had won a singles match earlier against Saurav Kapoor, while Hemant Duggal had won the other singles for the Railways. In the first singles Anand Pawar scored a thrilling win over Sachin Ratti to put Air India ahead. In the women’s final, Sayali Gokhale won both her singles and doubles matches, to pilot Air India to a 2-0 victory over the Railways. The results (finals): Men: Railways beat Air India 3-2 (Sachin Ratti lost to Anand Pawar 14-21, 21-17, 18-21; Arup Baidya bt Saurav Kapoor 21-11, 21-12; T. Dinesh & Jayan James lost to Jishnu Sanyal & D. Akshaye 12-21, 22-24; Hemant Duggal bt Utsav Mishra 21-14, 21-13; Sachin Ratti & Arup Baidya bt Alwin Francis & Sanker 21-13, 21-14). Women: Air India beat Railways 2-0 (Sayali Gokhale bt Dhanya Nair 21-7, 12-21, 21-13; Sayali Gokhale & P. Jyotsna bt Dhanya Nair & Anita Ohlan 15-21, 21-10, 21-19). — Special Correspondent
