New Delhi: ‘Lead by example’ seems to be the motto of K S Mehra, the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, who has topped the civic body ‘punctuality test’ of officials. Mr. Mehra reached office at least half-an-hour ahead of the scheduled 9 a.m. and left well after 5-30 p.m., show the records for the past two months after a bio-metric attendance system was introduced in the offices of the civic body. According to Mayor Arti Mehra, the average reaching and leaving time of the Commissioner has been 8-30 a.m. and 8-30 p.m. in the past two months. The bio-metric attendance system was introduced in MCD offices in Town Hall, Ambedkar Stadium office and Press Building on August 1. In the wake of recent blasts in Delhi, a new security and entry system has been introduced in Town Hall, the headquarters of the MCD, from Tuesday. In this new system, only the vehicles of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Leader of the House, Leader of the Opposition, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of committees and Heads of Departments would be allowed to park inside the premises. Vehicles of Councillors will leave them in Town Hall and will be parked in new Khoya Mandi parking through valet parking and car calling system. A new system of watch and ward has also been introduced by which 25 civil defence guards have been deputed for the security of the Town Hall. Staff with I-cards will be entitled to enter the Town Hall while visitors will have to get entry pass.
