KATHMANDU: The Indian Embassy here signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nepal Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) to provide a grant assistance of NRS 10.26 million to conduct mobile screening camps in schools in various districts under its School Eye Health Care Programme. According to the embassy, India has been providing assistance to the NNJS for the last seven years. The NNJS is recognised by Nepal as a national society for comprehensive eye care. Reports said 6.6 lakh children are visually impaired and 72 per cent of them are not using appropriate spectacles due to the medical costs and inaccessibility to health facilities.
