Parties like TDP and Praja Rajayam can strike a deal Deputy Chief Minister can be from Telangana SANGAREDDY: CPI State secretary K. Narayana on Wednesday mooted the proposal of ‘sharing and rotation of power’ between the main opposition like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the newly formed Praja Rajayam after the elections. This he felt would be a binding force to bring these parties together along with others. He said while the two main parties could share power by turns, the deputy Chief Minister’s post could be allotted to the Telangana region. Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Narayana said the power sharing agreement among parties entered before elections would allow the government to complete its term whereas post-poll alliance may not last long. Common goal“It may not be impossible to defeat the Congress in the next elections but all parties with a common goal of defeating the ruling party coming together is desirable. We hope the TDP and PR will come into the fold proposed by me. We need an emotional force to bring us together,” he said while admitting that the Left was being forced to go with bourgeois parties like TDP and PR to gain number strength. He said the Communists were not saints to stay away from power and elections were part of the game to become powerful and share power. He said the Left parties contesting elections alone had not yielded result in 1999 and same was the case with the Congress. ‘Irresponsible’Terming the comments made by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy that the Congress would go it alone in the elections as ‘irresponsible,’ the CPI leader said that no political party was ready to sail with the ruling party as its defeat was imminent.
