Minister to launch ‘Mana Ooru’ programme today

Staff Reporter

Convergence of various departments at the village level

SANGAREDDY: Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy will launch the ‘Mana Ooru’ programme at Kasireddypalli village in Gajwel constituency on October 2.

District Collector Peeyush Kumar told The Hindu on Wednesday, that the programme was aimed at convergence of different departments at the village level to give better administration to the people and supervise implementation of government flagship programmes like housing and pensions.

Stakeholders at three levels – grassroots-level workers like anganwadis, panchayat secretaries, preraks, public representatives like sarpanches, ward members and Water User Associations members and community representatives like youth organisations members and SHG members would be involved in this programme.

Resource persons

Already 100 resource persons were trained to implement this programme, who in turn would train conveners at the village level.

Those who actively involve themselves at the village-level would be selected as conveners, heading the Village Convergence Committee (VCC). A review meeting of the VCC would be held once in two weeks to asses the functioning.

“The VCC will take up the programmes like health, education, checking school dropout rate and other social issues. Mandal-level cluster officers will prepare a report on the functioning of the VCCs. Depending on the requirement, district-level officers will be roped in to address teething problems,” Mr. Peeyush Kumar said.
