Tamil homeland case: accused appeals for bail
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The main accused in the Fraser Town police station case in which 12 accused, including Tamil scholar Nedunchezian, were arrested on charges of waging war against the State, moved the Karnataka High Court for bail on Wednesday.
Shivakumar, alias Shiva, made the first accused, said the Frazer Town police had arrested twelve of them claiming that between 1986 and 2002 they had held several meetings in Tiruchirapalli, in Tamil Nadu, and Bangalore, and that they had agreed to extend support to the LTTE, and that they had acquired explosives. It was also claimed that they wanted to create a separate Tamil homeland comprising parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Sri Lanka.
Justice Ashok Hinchigeri adjourned further hearing of the case.
