Over 100 huts gutted

Coimbatore: More than 100 huts were gutted at Brindavan Nagar, near CIT here in a fire that broke out on Wednesday evening.

District Collector V. Palanikumar and other officials rushed to the spot and consoled the victims who lost their houses.

The district administration has provided alternative accommodation to those who had rendered homeless. The administration has made arrangements to provide rice, saris and dhotis to the affected victims.

A financial assistance of Rs. 2,000 would be given to the victims on Thursday.
