Staff Reporter

‘A day at sea’ on October 7 will be one of the highlights

Kakinada: The Kakinada Group of National Cadet Corps (NCC) is hosting special national integration camps at Sree Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, and APSP 3rd Battalion Grounds here starting from October 2.

The highlights of the event are ‘A day at sea’ on October 7 and a ceremonial parade at the APSP grounds on October 12, according to Camp Commandant A.S. Kumara Swamy.

Col. Swamy told newsmen on Wednesday that 300 NCC cadets (both boys and girls) from all over the country would participate in the camp at Synergy school from October 2 to 13 and 600 cadets would take part in the second camp at APSP from October 4 to 13.

Entertainment show

Four Naval frigates and two helicopters would demonstrate their capabilities in the half-day exercise off Kakinada coast.

Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju and NCC Director-General Prakash S. Chaudhary would review the parade and watch an entertainment show that follows on October 12. Both the camps were open to public.

Col. Swamy said the objective of the special integration camps was to bring together cadets from all over India so as to expose them to the culture and traditions of different regions which gives the country a distinct identity in the comity of nations. The camps were part of the NCC’s many training activities whose one more aim was to infuse discipline among the cadets.

Current champ

He expressed happiness that the NCC Directorate of Andhra Pradesh stood first among all State units and won the Prime Minister’s Championship Banner.

In Andhra Pradesh, Kakinada Group had been bagging the Chief Minister’s Banner for the last six years and is the current Champion Group of the State.

Deputy Camp Commandant Satendra Singh also spoke.
