Letters to the Editor
The article, Restoring the confidence of Muslims (September 30), deserves praise for uncovering the root cause of terrorism and factors that fan it. Also commendable is the detailed account of the alternative theories on the encounter in Jamia Nagar by the Delhi police. Indeed, the Jamia Nagar encounter asks more question than it answers. The police claims are contradictory nearly on every step relating to the encounter. There are many gaping holes in the official version. It is indeed high time various agencies took steps to regain the confidence of Muslims not by merely appeasing them. Yasir Malik, New Delhi It’s the egoism of the masses that Raj Thackeray leverages to command a massive fanfare by attacking north Indians. Apart from all judicial actions, for the long term benefit of society the evil of egoism should be confronted through socio-philosophical means by strengthening the humanities curriculum in our educational institutions at all levels. Vinay Dey, Bangalore
