Campaign for more crematoria

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha will take up a campaign for improving the cremation grounds. This was announced by its president Vatal Nagaraj.

Announcing this on Thursday during the Gandhi Jayanti celebration in the city held by his party, Mr. Nagaraj said there was not enough facility for cremation in the city. There were only nine electric crematorium, and 300 burial grounds. There were only 11 vehicles to carry the dead. He said a city like Bangalore needed more electric crematoriums and more lands should be earmarked for laying out burial grounds. The Government and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike should immediately take measures to modernise the existing electric crematoriums and increase the number of vehicles to 100, he added.
