SP worried about Santvana Kendras

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Santvana Kendras, the centres for counselling women who are victims of domestic violence, have been working on their own without police help, said Superintendent of Police, Corps of Detectives, Roopa D. Moudgill here on Thursday.

Speaking at a conference on “Prevention of domestic violence against women,” Ms. Moudgill expressed her concern over the functioning of these kendras, which are run by NGOs with funds given by the Department of Women and Child Welfare. “Many of these kendras are working independently without the necessary help of the police. Some of the kendras are defunct,” she said.
