Shivappa’s contribution hailed

HASSAN: Senior BJP leader B.B. Shivappa was felicitated here on the Friday on his 80th birthday.

The former Congress Minister Harnahalli Ramaswamy described Mr. Shivappa as a politician who stood by his values. He was instrumental in building the party in the State, Mr. Ramaswamy said.

He wanted the Government to utilise the experience of senior leaders such as Mr. Shivappa for the development of the State. BJP general secretary and MP H.N. Ananthkumar said that the Government should give Mr. Shivappa a suitable post and utilise his knowledge.

Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda said that as the president of the State unit of the BJP Mr. Shivappa toured Karnataka in 1983 and garnered support for the party. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar described Mr. Shivappa as a leader par excellence. Whatever BJP was today was due to his selfless service, Mr. Shettar added.

Higher Education Minister Arvind Limbavali said that Mr. Shivappa’s speeches on the floor of the House had inspired youngsters like him.

Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Math was present. Chairman of the reception committee G.L. Mudde Gowda presided over the function.
