Evokes good response from people while speaking about maladministration Asks Suraram colony residents to ‘wait for 4 months when TDP comes to power’ HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday asked people to revolt against the corrupt government, to protect their interests and the State. Addressing a largely attended dharna at Uppal crossroads, Mr. Naidu said corruption has become all-pervasive phenomenon under the Congress rule. From irrigation projects, allotment of government land down to supply of fertilizer, LPG and rice, every project and scheme reeked of corruption and unless people in each locality stood up to root it out “nothing will be left in the State for future generations”, he added. He evoked good response from the people whenever he spoke of maladministration. When he asked women how much did they spend on an LPG cylinder refill, they responded with “Rs. 600”. In a brief interaction earlier with media persons, Mr. Naidu went to the extent of demanding declaration of economic emergency in the State in accordance with the Constitutional provisions, to rein in the government. The TDP leader addressed roadside meetings at Dhulapally and Kompally. At Suraram colony having 3,600 houses, people complained that the government had demolished about 1,000 of them to take up Rajiv Gruhakalpa denying pattas to others. “This shows the government’s priority. It gives away thousands of acres to private parties but does not leave even 60 yards to the poor,” he said. He asked them not to leave the place and wait for four months when TDP comes back to power. At the Uppal, he charged the government with giving away one lakh acres worth Rs. one lakh crore to various private companies around Hyderabad, Vizag and Kakinada “for a pittance”.
