CPI leaders arrested
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: CPI district secretary P. Kameswara Rao and five more leaders – B. Suribabu, V. Pydichitti, K. Krishna Rao, Y. Chinnammalu and B. Ashok – were arrested on Friday for leading the poor to occupy government land in survey number 209 (Babametta) in the town in June 2007 when the “struggle for land” programme was organised by the party.
Exactly, a year after, the party once again led the poor to build huts on the same land. Following a complaint lodged by Vizianagaram tehsildar Ch. Ramana Murty with the police, they were arrested and sent for remand.
