Elocution competition on efficient energy use

PUDUCHERRY: It is time to fine tune oratorical skills as the Renewable Energy Agency of Pondicherry along with the Education Department is all set to conduct an elocution competition for school students in the Union Territory.

As part of the “National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation” launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, New Delhi, various competitions were being held for school students. This includes an elocution competition for students of Standard IX to XII on the topic - “Efficient use of energy to reduce global warming,” said a press release.

The competition would be held at the school, district and finally at the State levels. The language of the competition would be the regional language or in English.

For selection at the district-level, the competition would be held in the respective schools and two students from each school would be selected for the district-level. The district-level competition would be held at Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions.

At the State-level, 10 students from Puducherry, four from Karaikal and two each from Mahe and Yanam would be selected.

A cash award of Rs.500 would be given to students who win the district-level competitions and are eligible to participate in the State-level.

In addition to this, the bus/ train fare for each student and his/her guardian from Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions would be paid. The State-level competitions would be held in the Directorate of School Education, 100 Feet Road, Ellapillaichavady on November 13, added the release.

The first prize would carry a cash award of Rs.5,000, the second prize Rs.3,000 and the third prize Rs.2,000. Ten consolation prizes of Rs.1,000 each would also be given.
