World Habitat Day celebrations

KOCHI: Minister for Housing and Forest Binoy Viswam will inaugurate the World Habitat Day celebrations being organised by the Kerala State Housing Board here on Monday at 3 p.m.

Former Supreme Court Judge V.R. Krishna Iyer will deliver the keynote address.

Mayor Mercy Williams, Sebastian Paul, MP; P.S. Shyla, president, district panchayat; M.C. Josephine, chairperson, Greater Cochin Development Authority; K. Ramamurthy, Principal Secretary (Housing); M. Beena, District Collector; and G. Harikumar, director, Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra, would attend the function.

The United Nations observes the first Monday of October every year as the World Habitat Day with the objective of highlighting the importance of shelter as one of the primary needs of the humanity.
