Belgaum: The Estimates Committee headed by Abhay Kumar Patil, MLA, will inspect Bellary dam and Bellary nala projects in Belgaum in the light of financial irregularities to the tune of Rs. 14 crore. The Government suspended 20 engineers of Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited in this regard recently. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Patil said the Government had taken serious note of the irregularities and would initiate action against those involved. On the quality of Bellary nala project work, which he had alleged as poor sometime ago, said the people would get answers to their questions on the project on Monday. On Congress leader Amarsinh Patil’s demand for a Lokayukta investigation into the irregularities, he said Rs. 25 crore was released when the State was under President’s rule. He had written thrice to the Chief Minister drawing his attention to irregularities in implementation of the Bellary dam project, he added.
