Four children drown in a village pond

MAHABUBNAGAR: A pall of gloom descended on Peddoddi village in Maldakal mandal about 110 km away from here on Saturday when four children of the village were feared drowned in small pond formed in the Nettempadu canal.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, a group of five children went for a swim in the pond this afternoon. Four children jumped into the pond while Gajendra stayed on the bank. After some time Gajendra started screaming as his friends did not surface. The farmers working in the adjacent fields rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies.

Heart rending scenes were witnessed with the near and dear of the children grieving at their death

The deceased were identified has Vinod (10), Gopal (8), Narendar (8) and Prabhakar (8). It is said that the victims belong to two families of the village.
