Special cell for teachers’ grievances to be set up

Special Correspondent

NAGAPPATTINAM: A special cell would be established to address the grievances of teachers in the district, Collector M. Jayaraman announced here on Saturday.

Teachers who had grievances against any government authority could approach the cell and their complaints would be looked into immediately, he said.

Speaking at a function to celebrate Teachers’ Day in the district, Mr. Jayaraman said that there had been a delay in celebrating Dr. S. Radhakrishnan’s birthday because some of the best teachers in the district were away in Chennai and Delhi to receive awards.

Dairy Development Minister U. Mathivanan distributed awards to teachers who had won national and state recognition, and also to the best performers among schools and students in the district. He noted that teachers had brought in great social changes by making it possible for lower classes to obtain education.
