Temple looted

CHIKMAGALUR: Thieves broke into the Gowramma temple at Lakya about 15 km from here early on Saturday and took away cash and gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 4 lakh. The annual festival of the temple, which was held on Friday, concluded well past midnight. Although a police constable was posted for security duty, the thieves took advantage of his absence. The dog squad failed to provide any clues. — Correspondent
