PATHANAMTHITTA: The Orissa government has failed miserably in ensuring the protection of life and property of citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution, social critic Sukumar Azhikode has said. Prof. Azhikode was inaugurating a Gandhi Smriti Sangamom organised by the Believers’ Church at the church auditorium at Thottabaghom, near Thiruvalla, on Saturday. According to him, the violence in the name of religion was unleashed by those who do not believe in any religion. Religious people never killed each other as all religions preached love, brotherhood and compassion to fellow beings, he added. Prof. Azhikode said that Christianity stood for love and compassion. Bishop K.P. Yohannan, head of Believers’ Church, presided over the meet. K.C. Rajagopalan, MLA, and others spoke.
