Roads blocked

Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: Villagers resorted to road ‘roko’ agitation at three places near Alankudi on Saturday, protesting the erratic supply of power.

They set up road blockades by felling a few trees at Kallalankudi, Arasadipatti and Vadakadu.

Buses and vehicular movement on the Pudukottai–Avanam Kaikatti and the Alankudi–Karambakudi sector came to a standstill for a few hours as the villagers had felled a few trees.

Revenue and police officials rushed to Vamban where villagers were squatting on the road and pacified them.

Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar inspected the villages and oversaw the arrangements for the restoration of traffic.
