WELFARE: Forests Minister N. Selvaraj launching the sale of spices at Kulithalai in Karur district on Friday.
KULITHALAI: All sections of society are benefiting from the various development and welfare schemes of the State Government. Sale of spices and condiments through the public distribution system shops at subsidised prices is one such scheme that exemplifies the commitment of the State Government to share the burden of the common man, Forests Minister N. Selvaraj said here on Friday.
Since assuming power, the DMK government has been consistently showing its commitment to ameliorate the suffering of the vast sections of poor and downtrodden people.
Whether it was development programmes or welfare schemes, the topmost thing on the mind of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was the well-being of the man on the street. Every scheme was reflective of the concern he had for the poor, he recalled. Observing that the rising prices and inflation would have an adverse impact on the poor , the Chief Minister had launched yet another scheme to help the weaker sections of society. This time around, he had planned to provide condiments and spices at a subsidised rate of Rs. 50 a packet through the fair price shops.
