Manipur journalists censure editor

Iboyaima Laithangbam

IMPHAL: The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) has censured Hijam Rajesh, editor of the English edition of the Sanagai Express published from here.

In a statement, it said the AMWJU, the apex body of journalists in the State, shall not bear any responsibility for his “acts of commission and omission.”

It regretted the “distortion of facts” in a press release issued by an outlawed underground organisation.

The Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) issued a statement against the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).

“Distorted”

However, the report carried by the newspaper was “distorted” to make it appear that the latter had criticised the former.

The newspaper did not hit the stands on Saturday and indications were that its publication would be banned for sometime now.

The editor had tendered an unreserved apology to PREPAK.

However, there was no response yet.
