Star attraction: Film actor Shabana Azmi and chairperson of Biocon Ltd. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw at the ‘Pink Spirit Art Show’ in Bangalore on Saturday. Bangalore: Film actor Shabana Azmi on Saturday inaugurated the Centre for Breast Health, an exclusive centre for the treatment of breast diseases set up by HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd. (HCG) in the city. She also launched the company’s “Pink Hope” initiative aimed at creating awareness on breast cancer and providing early detection and cure. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Azmi lauded the initiative and urged all women to take advantage of the programme and get screened. “I appeal to all to spread awareness about this silent killer in your community, clear all myths and bring confidence to foster early detection and diagnosis,” she said. Chairperson of Biocon Ltd. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw inaugurated a modern mammogram facility at the centre. The company also unveiled the “Pink Spirit Art Show” at Swasti Contemporary Art Gallery on the occasion. Ajai Kumar, Chairman and CEO of HCG, said that the HCG Foundation and Swasti aimed to work together and organise events and art exhibitions to raise funds in order to mitigate the financial problems faced by cancer patients and their families.
