BANGALORE: The Joint House Committee constituted to go into the alleged “inadequate facilities” at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) has expressed concern over complaints from users of the airport. The first meeting of the committee was held at the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday. Speaking to the presspersons after the meeting, chairman of the committee Hemachandra Sagar, MLA, said the quality of facilities at the airport were not “truly of international quality” and there were various shortcomings. The chairman said the committee would like to study the facilities at other international airports abroad. He said the committee would visit the airport and make a first-hand assessment of the facilities and also take the opinion of airport users. Mr. Sagar said that the report would be submitted to the legislature in three months. Earlier at the meeting, members including D.K. Shivakumar, N.Yogish Bhat, H.D. Revanna, Qamar-ul Islam, Nadagouda, Manohar Maski and Abdul Azim wanted the BIAL authorities to improve the standards at the airport. BIAL officials, including Chief Operating Officer Marcel Hungerbuehler and Arvind Jadhav were present.
