“BJP-AIADMK alliance more likely”

The parties share similar sentiments on various issues

MADURAI: An alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is more likely for the Lok Sabha elections, according to BJP leader S. Thirunavukkarasar.
Mr. Thirunavukkarasar, who was here to mobilise funds for Bihar flood victims, told reporters on Saturday that the parties shared similar sentiments on the Sethusamudram project, Amarnath issue and terrorism.
“We will strive for an alliance without the Congress, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Communist parties. We are ready to have alliance with any [other] party in the State willing to accept L.K. Advani as the prime ministerial candidate,” he said.
The alliance issue would be discussed only at the time of elections.
The party’s concentration was now on Assembly polls in five States.
Saying that terrorist activities had increased in the country under the four-year-rule of the United Progressive Alliance, he said in the absence of any stringent law to curb their activities, terrorists were taking the lives of people.
“Even countries such as the US and the UK have more stringent laws. The BJP, on coming to power, will enact a legislation on the lines of POTA.”
