Lucknow: Over 1,000 people, including 40 wanted criminals, were arrested and a number of fire arms recovered during a special drive against criminals and anti-social elements by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday. In the drive launched on the directives of Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brijlal, 1078 people, including 40 wanted criminals, were arrested, home department sources said. Firearms, including country made pistols and rifles, were recovered from their possession. A total of 6,342 places were raided between 2-5 am and 691 FIRs were registered.
