CUDDALORE: Twelve shops and two houses were destroyed in a fire on Sunday afternoon at Vandigate in Chidambaram. However, nobody was injured. Fire tenders from Kattumannarkoil, Chidambaram and Parangipettai doused the flames after battling for more than two hour. About 10 two-wheelers parked in a workshop were completely destroyed. Scrap merchants, wastepaper dealers and mechanics had set up shops, along with small eateries at the Vandigate area. According to the police, a stove that burst in a house could have caused the fire.
