Colleges asked to encourage research

NARSARAOPET: Minister of Civil Supplies Kasu Krishna Reddy has asked the students of Amara Institute of Engineering and Technology to imbue the spirit of research and urged the college management to devote 10 per cent of the budget to setting up research facilities on the college premises.
Addressing the students at the Fresher’s Day celebrations held on Saturday, the Minister said that in these days of job hunting, genuine research has taken a back seat which could prove detrimental to the interests of the country.
Reminding the students of the sacrifices made by national leaders and the hard work put in by the engineers in the construction of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, he said that the project completed at a cost of Rs.870 crore is now able to provide irrigational facilities to lakhs of acres in Guntur and Prakasam districts.
Chilakaluripet MLA Marri Rajasekhar too asked the students to make the best use of facilities in the colleges and strive to develop cutting edge skills.
Guntur District Cooperative Central Bank Chairman N. Chandrasekhara Rao, College correspondent Amara Venkateswara Rao were present.
