Pastoral letter on canonisation

KOCHI: A pastoral letter from heads of the three rites of the Catholic Church in Kerala was read out in all the parish churches on Sunday detailing the life and sainthood of Sister Alphonsa of Bharangnganam, ahead of her canonisation next Sunday. The pastoral letter recalled the life and times of the saint as it said that love was the essence of the life of Sister Alphonsa. Sister Alphonsa, born in 1910, was called Annakkutty before she took to religious life. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1986. — Staff Reporter
