dated October 6, 1958: Mihir Sen congratulated

Prime Minister Nehru has sent a personal message to Mihir Sen, the Indian barrister who swam the English Channel, congratulating him on his feat. The message was conveyed by Mrs. V. L. Pandit at India House, London, on October 4.

The Government have sanctioned the establishment of a unit for the manufacture of garments and holdalls in the after-care home for women at Vellore. The establishment of this unit is an important aspect in the rehabilitation of women discharged from correctional institutions, as opportunity for gainful employment is a necessary pre-requisite to the inculcation of social and moral hygiene.
