Thiruvananthapuram: A meeting of residents’ associations in the Museum area has called upon the government to take steps to check the accuracy of functioning of autorickshaw meters. The meeting was held under the Maithri Suraksha community policing programme of the city police here on Sunday. The meeting called upon the Legal Metrology Department to appoint enough personnel to carry out periodic inspections of meters to prevent tampering. Speakers highlighted the delay in implementing traffic reforms at Jagathy, Vazhuthacaud and Sasthamangalam. They also demanded action against cigarette smokers using small lanes. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cantonment, K. Ramachandran inaugurated the meeting. Councillors Rakhi Ravikumar and Harikumar and Maithri Suraksha convenor Thekkumoodu Sumesh participated.
