TDP seeks details on land allotments

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has demanded a white paper on land allotments to companies in the Agency areas, investments made by them and the employment created so far.

Senior TDP leaders R. Chandrashekhar Reddy and P. Chandrashekhar told a press conference here on Sunday that the party would soon come out with an action programme to prevent bauxite mining in the Visakhapatnam agency area, take up the issue with the Centre, raise it in Parliament and explore legal options.

They said giving land in the Agency areas amounted to violation of the Central legislation which clearly stipulated that tribals should not be dispossessed of their lands. The Chintapalle hearing on bauxite mining turned out to be a farce. Several party leaders, including a former Minister and MLAs, were prevented from attending the meeting. ”.
