‘Golden chariot’ procession draws crowds

Staff Reporter

TIRUMALA: Tens of thousands of devotees participated in the procession of the ‘Golden chariot’ organised on Monday as part of the Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara here.

The processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy and His two consorts, mounted atop the ‘Golden chariot,’ were taken around the mada streets. The air was charged with the chants of ‘Govinda Govinda’ by devotees. In the morning, the Lord was carried atop the Hanumantha Vahanam followed by Vasanthotsavam and Asthanam to the deities at the Ranga Nayakula Mandapam inside the main temple. In the evening, the Lord was brought out in a colourful procession on the Gaja Vahanam.
