Narrow win for Red Diamonds

Coimbatore: Red Diamonds Cricket Club edged out Jolly Rovers Cricket Club by four runs in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the PSG Medical College grounds here on Sunday.

After posting 198, Red Diamonds, thanks to Subbair (five for 32), dismissed its opponent for 194.

The scores: First division: RKS Kalvi Nilayam ICC 126 in 39.3 overs (Sreejan four for 30) lost to Cosmo Village SA 129 for six in 46.3 overs, RKS CA 72 in 29.3 overs (R. Venkatesh four for 23) lost to Coimbatore Raiders 76 for six in 16.3 overs (S. Balakrishnan four for 26), Red Diamonds CC 198 in 48.1 overs bt Jolly Rovers CC 194 in 47 overs (Arun Balaji 47, Kannan 44, Subbair five for 32).

SNR Sons College wins

SNR Sons College defeated Government Arts College by 120 runs in the opening league of the Bharathiar University inter-zone cricket tournament on Monday.

The scores: League: SNR Sons 178 for six in 30 overs (Suresh Babu 68 not out) bt Government Arts 58 in 21.4 overs (Sunil five for 11); Bharathiar University Dept. 97 in 26.5 overs (Gowtham five for 12) lost to PSG CAS 99 for one in 12.1 overs (Thirumurugan 56 not out).

Easy for GSIS

At Udhagamandalam, Good Shepherd International School defeated JSS Public School by 188 runs in the NDCA under-19 inter-school cricket tournament for the F.K. Irani Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School, Lovedale, on Sunday.

The scores: U-19: Good Shepherd IS 279 for six in 30 overs (Rishab Gupta 52, Sachin 42) bt JSS Public School 91 in 19 overs. U-14: Riverside Public 145 for four in 27 overs bt JSS Public School 65 in 17.3 overs (R. Prasad four for 16).
