Rs. 19 lakh in cash goes missing from bank
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A sum of Rs. 19 lakh was found missing from the cash counter of the Marathahalli branch of State Bank of India.
According to branch manager H. Keshava Rao: “Around 10.50 a.m., the money was taken from the strong room to load the ATM of the bank, which is attached to the bank. The bundles were kept at the cash counter but within a minute the money disappeared.” HAL police said the bank has no security and has not installed CCTV cameras.
“Four months ago a gang had tried to smash the ATM. At the time we had instructed the bank officials to install CCTV cameras and to upgrade the security system. But the bank authorities neglected our suggestions,” said a police official who did not want to be named.
“We have collected fingerprints and footprints from the scene of crime,” he said.
